This page will eventually show one Illinois passenger car plate for each year they've been issued, featuring plates from my collection. Illinois is my wife Debbie's home state.
If you have, or can take, a digital photo of a plate from a year not shown below, send it to me in an e-mail attachment. I'll add it to this page, and will credit you for submitting it. For any plates dated 1955 or earlier, please also provide me with the dimensions of the plate, so that I may make the size of the image in proportion to the others.
The 1911 plate (which is undated) is badly discolored; it should have a white background. The 1912, 1913, 1914, 1916, 1917, 1918, 1923, and 1930 plates have been repainted. Some of these plates have reasonably accurate colors, while others do not. In particular, the shade of the 1918 plate is quite different than the original paint. The background of the 1916 plate was repainted with red primer paint; the correct color is silver. However, the numbers on this plate still have their original black paint.
(1911 – Cochran photo / plate; 1912 and 1914 – Likar photos / plates; 1915, 1918, and 1923 – Podlesak photos / plates; 1917 – Brower photo / plate.)
