Introduction

Hopefully, someday, this page will eventually show one North Carolina passenger car plate for each year they've been issued.

I don't actually collect North Carolina license plates, except in the few cases where I need one to complete a set.  However, I've lived in North Carolina since 2001, and so I see current North Carolina license plates in use every day, and I have them registered to my own vehicles.  I regularly end up with old North Carolina plates in my trade box, and I also see them used on antique vehicles.  As a result of all of this, I'm able to provide information about and photos of N.C. plates despite not collecting them.

Unlike the rest of my site, hardly any of the photos shown on my North Carolina pages are from my personal collection.  I haven't meticulously identified the source of every plate that's not from my collection on these pages, but I did photograph every plate shown unless it's credited otherwise.

If you have, or can take, a digital photo of a plate from a year not shown below, send it to me in an e-mail attachment.  I'll add it to this page, and will credit you for submitting it.  For any plates dated 1955 or earlier, please also provide me with the dimensions of the plate, so that I may make the size of the image in proportion to the others.
